My dad was that long haired working guy that would show up to a teachers conference with a Pink Floyd hat on. Weird right? Well I listened to a lot in my youth and this scene paints a picture of the struggle that is faced by David against a parasite known as Farook (The Shadow King). In this penultimate scene the stage is set for the final face off between David and his enemy. Interestingly enough David's love interest is named after one of the founding members of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett. The album that these songs derives from is Dark Side of the Moon and is still one of the most prolific Mental Illness pieces of music and art today. This won't give you a spoiler to the end of this episode but will briefly show the entirety of its main characters life up to this point.
