These are the final minutes from "Mistaken Identity", the sixth episode from the first season of the hit 1990-96 NBC sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". The episode originally aired Monday, October 15, 1990 Will Smith (Will Smith) and his cousin Carlton Banks (Alfonso Ribeiro) have returned home with their parents from a weekend in Palm Springs, where they were mistakenly arrested for allegedly joyriding in a stolen car (Carlton was driving to Palm Springs to deliver the car to it's owner, Henry Furth, the legal partner of Uncle Phil). Carlton maintains that the officers that arrested them were "just doing their jobs". Will then gives Carlton some cold, harsh truths about their situation. He tells him that they were discriminated against because of the color of their skin. They debate this for a few moments before Will goes to bed. Carlton then asks Uncle Phil (James Avery) that if he were in a similar situation if he was the cop, would he stop the car. "I asked myself that same question the first time I was stopped.", Uncle Phil gloomily replies before he too, goes to bed. Carlton then begins to learn his first lesson in racial discrimination.
