Hans Zimmer composed one of his most beautiful and popular scores for this WW2 film set in the lush island of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands. Due to the tonnes of footage and hours of music being heavily edited down to form the final film, some music on the CD isn't heard in the film, and some of the best pieces in the film remain unreleased. This moment of calm and reflection after the first battle sequence is beautifully lit and has a subtle and poignant piece of music to accompany it. The music remains unreleased, but it sounds like it could be Hans Zimmer's take on one of the Melanesian chants. The theme is used again later in another scene featuring Private Witt (Jim Caviezel), and never used again.
