Notte dedicata ai Game Awards 2019, ultima edizione della kermesse ideata e condotta da Geoff Keighley e trasmessa anche via streaming dal cuore della California. Come lecito aspettarsi, il premio più ambito dei Game Awards 2019 era quello di Game of the Year, vale a dire di Miglior Gioco dell'Anno.
A strappare la vittoria è stato Sekiro Shadows Die Twice di From Software, ultima fatica del game designer nipponico Hidetaka Miyazaki - ora al lavoro su Elden Ring al fianco dello scrittore George R.R. Martin. Il Giappone Feudale ricreato dal team dagli occhi a mandorla ha sbaragliato la concorrenza di produzioni largamente apprezzate come Resident Evil 2, Death Stranding, The Outer Worlds, Control e Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
